Unwilling Or Unable To Serve
Is it one or the other or both?
Proverbs 16:3: Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
I know some Christians who are unwilling to serve the Lord and I know some who are unable to serve Him. They are the same individuals. If we are willing to serve Him, He gives us the ability to do it. The ability to serve Him is built into every new creature in Christ. If we are unwilling to serve Him, we waste the ability that He has given us. We quench the Spirit and we grieve Him. If our unwillingness to serve Him is long-lasting, our wastefulness will be long-lasting. If our unwillingness to serve Him is permanent, our wastefulness will be permanent. If we are willing to serve Him, it may not be great, but there will always be some little thing to do for Him. Actually, nothing we do for Him is little. The only thing that can make our God-given ability useless is our unwillingness to use it. If a Christian OR an unbeliever is unwilling to serve the Lord, He is opposing the Lord.
Matthew 12:30: He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
Psalms 100:2: Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Galatians 5:22a: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, . . .
Christians that are unwilling to serve the Lord are not glad and they are not joyful but sometimes some of them try to fake it.
