Use It Or Lose It
Or to put it another way, use it or ask forgiveness. This truth applies to the strength of our physical bodies, our mental faculties and the spiritual power that the Holy Spirit gives believers. We understand that if our bodies are to get strong and stay strong they need nourishment and exercise. We also understand that we need to exercise our minds. But we sometimes reject or doubt that we have a need to serve God. While we have little spiritual strength at the beginning it should grow. If we don*t use it, it can atrophy. The Bible is our nourishment and serving God and others is our exercise.
Acts 1:8: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
1 Timothy 4:6: If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained. 7 But refuse profane and old wives* fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
Acts 24:16: And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.
God has a plan for the exploits you shall do and will strengthen you sufficiently to do them.
Luke 16:10: He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. 11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
Luke 19:17: And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
Daniel 11:32: And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.
Mark 16:15: And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Isaiah 41:10: Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Our strength grows along with our faith.
1 Peter 2:2: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
2 Thessalonians 1:3: We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
John 14:12: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
2 Corinthians 3:5: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God; 6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
