We NEED Jesus
Now and again and often we need to go back to our one basic need.
1 John 5:12: He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
Ephesians 3:1a7: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; . . .
We need Jesus and we need Him dwelling in our hearts and we need Him more desperately than our minds can comprehend. Without Him we do not have eternal life.
1 Corinthians 1:30: But of him (God) are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Without Jesus we cannot possess or apply His wisdom. Without Jesus we do not have the righteousness we need to enter Heaven. Without Jesus we cannot be sanctified, set apart from the world and set apart for God. Jesus was paid the wages of our sin and without Him we will pay them ourselves. Without Jesus we have not been bought back from our sin and from the god of this world.
John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Without Jesus we go the wrong way, we lack spiritual truth and we have no access to the Father.
Acts 4:12: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Without Jesus we are not saved.
2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Without Jesus we are not the creatures God wants us to be.
2 Corinthians 10:5: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Without Jesus we will not be able to think what God wants us to think.
Luke 6:45: A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Without Jesus in our hearts we are evil men who are unable to speak what God wants us to speak.
Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
John 15:5: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Without Jesus we will not be able to do what God wants us to do.
Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
With Jesus we can do anything and everything that God wants us to do.
We have barely scratched the surface here of how desperately we need Jesus in our hearts and lives. The best news is we can have Him.
John 6:37: All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
Deuteronomy 4:29: But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
Romans 10:13: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
