What Happened When Adam Died 3
Adam and Eve lost their innocent relationship with God when they ate the forbidden fruit and died spiritually. When they died physically it was great gain as it will be for believers of all ages. When they died spiritually they became enemies of God, separated from Him needing born-again spirits that could be reconciled to Him. All of their descendants (us) were conceived through their bodies, not their dead spirits.
John 3:6: That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Romans 8:7: Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Isaiah 59:2: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Hebrews 7:26: For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;
Until we receive Jesus and become reconciled to God we too are His enemies. Adam and Eve were reconciled to God and we need to be reconciled to Him because of what we lost when they sinned. When they sinned we sinned in them. We would have made the same choice that they did.
Psalms 103:12: As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Because God removed Adam and Eve*s sin and removes ours, we can be reconciled to Him.
Romans 5:10: For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Colossians 1:21: And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
2 Corinthians 5:18: And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ*s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
1 Corinthians 2:11: For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man*s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
A natural man is one with a dead spirit, and cannot understand the things of God.
Ephesians 5:18: And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
A dead spirit cannot be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Galatians 5:25: If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
A dead spirit does not live in the Spirit cannot walk in the Spirit.
John 4:23: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Men with dead spirits cannot worship God in truth.
Ephesians 6:18: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
A dead spirit cannot pray in the Spirit.
