What Happened When Adam Died 4

Adam and Eve turned away from God to an idol, possibly several idols. Satan, the forbidden fruit and their own desires became more important and influential to them than God. Adam pleased Eve instead of God and Eve influenced Adam instead of letting God influence Him. We must also turn from our idols to God. We do that when we genuinely receive the life-giving Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 1:9: For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

Adam and Eve lost their ability to know the Lord when they ate the forbidden fruit. They hid from Him. They did not know Him well enough to know that He would save them through the seed of the woman. (Genesis 3:15) They did not know Him we enough to seek Him.

John 17:3: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

Philippians 3:7: But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

Receiving Jesus is the beginning of knowing Him personally and experiencing Him and the end of merely knowing about Him. And the beginning of knowing Him should grow exponentially.

Proverbs 1:7: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Romans 5:14: Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam*s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

1 Corinthians 15:45: And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

1 Corinthians 15:22: For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

We all need to be made alive in Christ because we all died in Adam. We all need Christ.

1 John 5:11: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

1 Timothy 5:6: But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.

How can we be dead while we are alive? We are dead spiritually but we are living souls with physically living bodies.

Ephesians 2:1: And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

John 8:24: I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

Romans 8:16: The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

A dead human spirit cannot hear the Holy Spirit.

To be continued.
