What Heaven Will Be Like
Puritan Thomas Watson wrote some delightful and Biblical things about Heaven in A Body of Practical Divinity published in 1692.
Watson: Our hunger and thirst will be satisfied AND prevented.
Revelation 7:16: They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
Watson: We will be transplanted there by death. There will be no (comparative) contentment before death. We are taken away from the evil to come and are great gainers at death.
Isaiah 57:1: The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.
Philippians 1:21: For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Watson: They leave a wilderness, and go to a paradise; they change their complaints into thanksgivings; they leave their sorrows behind and enter into the joy of their Lord. Believers have not their portion paid till the day of their death. They are rich as Heaven can make them.
The delightful and inspiring things Watson wrote gave me a desire to find more of what the Bible says about Heaven.
Jesus will be there and we will be with Him where He is.
John 14:1: Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father*s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
We shall see Jesus and shall be like Him.
1 John 3:2: Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
