What Is Wrong With TV
Psalms 16:11: Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
Do you get more pleasure from God or from TV? Many people watch TV because they believe that they are controlling it. Often the opposite is true. TV is controlling them. God wants to be the main influence and the most important influence in our lives. I have learned that God*s biggest competition for our attention is often TV. Thankfully, He has given me less and less interest in TV and more and more interest in Him. Do you spend more time regularly watching TV or more time regularly with God? Do you turn it on and off when He wants you to? Do you ask Him when to turn it on or off? God loves you, the TV doesn*t. See if you are getting any of the following spiritually negative things from TV.
Proverbs 24:1-2: Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them. 2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
1 Corinthians 15:33: Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
Proverbs 13:20: He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
2 John 1:9-10: Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
Romans 16:17: Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
1 Corinthians 5:11: But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
2 Thessalonians 3:6: Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
2 Thessalonians 3:14: And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
1 Timothy 6:3-5: If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
