What Will We Enjoy In Heaven

There are some things we will do in Heaven that we don*t focus on very much. We will serve God day and night with gladness and singing. Gladness appeals to just about everyone, singing probably appeals to some but serving does not appeal to our flesh at all.

Revelation 22:3: And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

John Wesley Notes on Revelation 22:3:

And there shall be no more curse-But pure life and blessing; every effect of the displeasure of God for sin being now totally removed.

But the throne of God and the Lamb shall be in it-That is, the glorious presence and reign of God.

And his servants-The highest honour in the universe.

Shalt worship him-The noblest employment.

William Burkitt*s New Testament Commentary:

His servants shall serve him, that is the glorious angels and glorified saints shall continually stand before him, and administer unto him, not spend their eternity in a perpetual gazing upon God, but executing his commands, obeying him with vigour, praising him with cheerfulness, loving him above measure, fearing him without torment, trusting him without despondency, serving him without lassitude and weariness, without interruption or distraction, praising God, and singing eternal hallelujahs to the Lamb for ever and ever.

Revelation 7:15: Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.

Psalms 100:2: Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Some believers discover the great joy and satisfaction of serving their Creator here and now but some don*t seem to learn that. Soon after I was saved the Lord taught me that I was somehow more alive while I was serving Him and when I was not serving Him I was a joyless unsatisfied dud. Christians who are not serving the Lord often seem more miserable than even unbelievers. Those believers have tasted peace with God and then become unable to enjoy it. Unbelievers have never tasted peace with God. Several of Jesus* disciples happily called themselves servants. I believe that is because they had discovered that serving Him made their lives on earth a bit more Heavenly.

It seems almost to be a well-kept secret that serving God and others is the way to joy and satisfaction. I hope and pray you have discovered it. Self-centered individuals are willingly blind to it. We will enjoy serving God in Heaven immeasurably more than anything we are capable of enjoying here and now. There will be nothing there that would be boring. We will be zealous in whatever He wants us to do.

Titus 2:14: Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Romans 8:18: For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

2 Corinthians 4:17: For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

Colossians 3:2: Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
