You Have A Dangerous Enemy

If you are a Christian you have an enemy that you must not underestimate. He wants to destroy you. He wants to prevent you from accomplishing anything for the Lord. He will fight you every step of the way. You must know about him and be vigilant against him.

A wise military command is to know your enemy. Before we became Christians we were totally under the control of Satan. The Bible even called us his children. We were in his snare. We were his captives.

Consider the worst enemies you have had in this world. People who have stolen from you, slandered you, lied to you, insulted you or hurt you in any way. Satan is far worse and has far greater powers to use against you. He is more subtle. He wants to possess you. He is the epitome of heartlessness, cruelty and viciousness. He is the greatest deceiver there ever was. He is a murderer and the root cause of every murder that has ever been committed. He has plenty of help from the people he controls.

1 Peter 5:8: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

2 John 1:7: For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Matthew 7:15: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep*s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Acts 20:28-29: Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

2 Corinthians 11:14: And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

2 Timothy 2:24-26: And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

1 Timothy 3:7: Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

After we trust Christ we have a bigger battle on our hands than we ever had before. Blessedly, we have all the resources of God on our side in this battle. God is stronger than all enemies and guarantees victory in the end. Satan is already defeated.

Hebrews 2:14: Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

1 John 4:4: Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

James 4:7: Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Ephesians 4:27: Neither give place to the devil.
